Equipping SM Mobilizers for a Broader Vision

The Building beyond Blessing (BbB) training began its trial period in September, marking a significant shift in our SM training. This new training replaces the generic Head Facilitators Training Course (HFTC) and reflects the broader vision of transitioning from a course-focused approach, rooted in Kairos and other SM courses, to a mobilization movement focus. The training consists of four modules, aimed at preparing mobilizers to contribute to building mobilization movements.

Two BbB Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions have been conducted with key trainers from different global regions – East Asia, SouthEast Asia, Oceania, Europe, North America, Latin America, Southern Africa and Western Africa, with the expectation that they will trial the modules in their respective contexts. Through their feedback, SMI will refine the training in preparation for the final roll-out version of BbB in May 2024.

The feedback from the initial ToT has been overwhelmingly positive, with participants describing the training as a potential “game-changer,” offering a deeper, more comprehensive preparation for mobilizers. Ryan Betancourt, SM Mobilizer in the USA, writes: “I love this training. I think that it’s going to be very helpful for our experienced facilitators and I’m prayerfully planning to trial this with them as part of a ‘mobilization day’ event here in Las Vegas.”

Participants also highlighted the inclusivity of the modules, emphasizing that no matter what role one holds in SM, one or all modules will be beneficial. Many also expressed that the training equips mobilizers to think bigger, see beyond individual courses, and focus on advancing broader mobilization efforts.

Moving forward, SMI will schedule additional ToT sessions as needed, working alongside global region trainers and some national trainers to further trial the BbB training.
