SMI Center October Events
Simply MobilizingOctober 2019

The month of October was quite a full month at the Simply Mobilizing International (SMI) Center! Three key events were held at the Center which also kept our SMI team much busier than usual. Here’s a glimpse of those events:

Global Leaders’ Meeting. The Coordinators from the 12 SM Global Regions, together with key SMI leadership, gathered and participated in an important meeting last October 7-10, the first of its kind. Discussions centered around the SM journey and Vision 2025, the multiple pathways in becoming a Level 1 mobilizer and the SM movement, the initial formation of the International Leadership Team (ILT) with representation from the various regions and the upcoming 2020 Conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The three-day facilitated meeting allowed for greater participation in leadership decisions and has yielded valuable input, agreements and forward steps for the future of SM.

ETI 2nd Edition Video Recording. Ken Chua did a video recording for the Empowered to Influence (ETI) 2nd edition during the 3rd week of October. It was a busy three days of videoing but the multi-media team found it a real joy to work with Ken and his wife, Sharlene, who came with him to the Center.

Board Meeting. The SMI Board held its annual meeting on October 11. The Board is made up of seven members, majority Filipinos but allowing for two foreign Trustees. Present at this year’s meeting were James Quisquirin (PH), the newly-elected chair; Raymond Valdez (PH), treasurer; Max Chismon, International Director (NZ); and two new Trustees: Ma. Elena Bicaldo (PH) and Randy Hultman (US) who attended online. Ritche Rivera (PH), the third new Trustee, and Louella Yu (PH), vice-chair sent their regrets. It is with much appreciation that we said goodbye to Sandy Eckleberry (US) and Luke Chong (SG) who stepped down from the Board after four years of faithful service. The next board meeting will be held during the SM 2020 Conference in Thailand.
